Dr. Daniel P. King

Dr. Daniel P. King is a nationally acclaimed education reformer whose legacy has reshaped the academic landscape of South Texas and beyond.

As former superintendent of Pharr-San Juan-Alamo (PSJA) ISD, Dr. King turned a struggling school district into a national model for early college high schools and dropout prevention—boosting graduation rates from 62% to over 90%, and enabling thousands of students to earn college credits while still in high school.

His visionary work earned recognition from both President George W. Bush and President Barack Obama, who named him a White House Champion of Change for Latino education. In a testament to his impact, PSJA named its dropout recovery and college transition center The Dr. Daniel P. King College & University Center—a permanent symbol of the lives his leadership has transformed.
 

Now serving in multiple leadership and advisory roles, Dr. King continues to advance educational equity and resilience for future generations.
